Meet the i‑5 Barnsley Elite Academy, a bold new partnership between i‑5 Football Academy, Doncaster Elite, IDA Sheffield, and Barnsley FC, launching September 2025 at the Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre.
Designed for ages 7–16 (with a full 16–18 education offering arriving in 2026/27), it blends informative football development—complete with UEFA qualified coach‑led sessions and AI‑powered performance tracking—with serious professional, semi-professional, vocational and academic pathways through IDA and the University of Sheffield.
Training kicks off in October ‘25 on Thursday evenings for just £40/month in our top‑class facility, Dorothy Hyman Sports complex.

i-5 Academy and Doncaster Elite have forged a partnership in which a brand new initiative will be launched in September 2025.
Based at Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre, The project will develop local talent and provide exciting opportunities for the wider community.
What is it??
Imagine a football community where grassroots passion meets elite ambition. Doncaster Elite FC, IDA Sheffield, and Barnsley FC Academy have joined forces with i-5 Academy to create a pioneering football ecosystem, providing structured pathways from youth academies to competitive first-team football.

Students study at a renowned university, optimising their potential and allowing them to explore a professional sports career alongside an esteemed qualification. We are proud to be able to offer such pathways for players/students to be able to choose from the University of Sheffield’s full course portfolio, allowing them to discover a subject that inspires as much passion as football does.

How does it work??
Dorothy Hyman Football Academy – Your Pathway to Excellence
Join our Academy at Dorothy Hyman Sports Ground and kickstart your football journey!
The academy offers professional-standard training for players and ability levels aged 7-16, with an exciting new 16-18 programme launching in 2026.
Academy Highlights:
- Training every Thursday evening (specific times TBA), starting September 2025.
- Regular sessions hosted in collaboration with Barnsley FC (dates TBA).
- Monthly subscription of just £40, including:
- Regular AI-based performance testing to track and enhance your development.
- Coaching led by a Senior Pro UEFA A Licence coach and fully UEFA-qualified staff.
- Elite facilities at Dorothy Hyman Sports Ground.
